This was a deck remodel on a 95 year old house in East Ridge Tennessee. The original decking boards were tongue and groove. They didn't allow any moisture to pass through so any time it rained the water would sit and rot the boards. However, underneath the decking, the framing was in pretty good shape. We were able to re-deck the porch with minimal re-framing underneath. This kept the cost at a minimum and allowed us to get a good look at some century old framing. As a contractor it was a treat to get to see 95 year old framing. The floor joists would shrink in size from right to left which I thought was odd, until I discovered it was just cut logs. Here are a few pics.
